Veteran Athlete Kenenisa Bekele Withdraws from London Marathon Due to Injury

Legendary Ethiopian long-distance runner Kenenisa Bekele has announced that he will not be participating in the 2025 London Marathon due to an injury sustained during his training.

The London Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

“I have been eagerly counting down the days to run the London Marathon this Sunday,” Kenenisa shared on his social media platforms. “Unfortunately, an injury during my training has left me unable to compete this year.”

He continued, “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my fans around the world for their unwavering support and encouragement. My focus now will be on recovery, and I look forward to returning to the racecourse in the future once I am fully fit.”

Kenenisa concluded his message by wishing the best of luck to all the remarkable athletes participating in the marathon, encouraging them to “give it you’re all this Sunday.”
